Mildred Boone

Mrs. Mildred Christine Boone, 97, of Walkersville, MD passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Northampton Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl M. Boone.

Born April 24, 1921 in Libertytown, MD she was the daughter of the late John Leslie and Carrie Mae (Munshaur) Biddinger.

Mildred worked for many years at Smiths Bakery in Ladiesburg. She raised guinea pigs at home for research for many years, and enjoyed gardening and canning. Mildred especially loved to play Bingo, and looked forward to going out with her friends to play. She loved her cat Meow for 21 years. Her favorite pastime however was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her daughter Deborah, assisted by her husband Carl, was Mildred’s full time care giver for over eighteen years, both during the years she resided with them at home in Walkersville, and later at Northampton Manor.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah Hissey and husband Carl Moore (grandchildren Justin Hissey, Xandrea Hissey, Shaina Freeman, Alexander Moore), and daughter Barbara Martin and husband Raymond (grandchildren Donna (great-grandchildren Allyson, Brittany, Collins), Tammy (great-grandchildren Ryan, Rayann, Rachel) and Karen (great-grandchild Leah)). She is also survived by her son Ronnie Boone and wife Melanie (grandchildren Angie , Tyler), son James Boone and wife Dorothy (grandchildren Russell, Mike, Lisa), and son Melvin Boone and wife Teresa (grandchildren Jerry, Cathy, Jennifer, David, Carl). She is also survived by many additional great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was cared for and loved by special friend and personal aide Diana Keller. She is also remembered by a special friend and family member Steve Hissey.

A special thank you is offered to some of the current and past staff at Northampton Manor for the love and care they have given to Mildred over the past nine years, especially Nursing Director Kristy Fisher; Nurse Practioner Valerie Simon; Special Staff Assistants April and Wendy; Nurses Heather Ayers, Khadeja, Marguerite, Amy, Heather; and Nurses Aides Fatima, Sandra, Carine, Aileen, Saiba, Demetria, Joseph, and Mariama.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Carl M. Boone, and by her 11 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home,1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14 at 2PM.

Interment will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery, Libertytown, MD.
