Michael "Mike" David Fuller of New Market, Maryland passed away the morning of August 6th, 2015 surrounded by family after a courageous two-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was 57 years old.
Born November 22nd, 1957 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, he was the fourth child of Anastasia Valerie and Richard Raymond Fuller. Mike graduated from James Madison High School in 1975 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Strayer University. He spent the majority of his career as an IT project manager for various firms in the Washington, DC area. While working in the professional world Mike had a particular passion and exceptional gift for motivating others.
Mike enjoyed trips to the beach where he was able to fly his extensive kite collection. He was an avid cook and baker and took great pride in making others smile with his latest and greatest kitchen creation. Throughout his life Mike always enjoyed using his hands and creativity for building and restoration projects. Before his death he utilized this love to make a collection of steampunk-themed lamps, which brought him tremendous joy. Above all, he believed his greatest gifts in life were his children, Elizabeth and Michael. He and Elizabeth shared a love for Disney and he was actively involved in Michael’s sporting endeavors. Mike had a warm heart and a strong devotion to those that he loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by many loving family members including his daughter, Elizabeth Fuller; son, Michael Fuller; sister Kathleen Fuller, sister and brother in-law Susan and Larry Choate; brother Richard R. Fuller Jr.; niece Kristen and husband Michael Johnson and nephew Richard R. Fuller III. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anastasia and his father, Richard.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life in Sappington Hall at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Union Bridge, Maryland on Thursday August 13th, 2015 at 9:30 am. Mass will follow in the main church at 11:00 am. Burial services will be held at 1:30pm at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032.
