Michael Winpigler

December 20, 1985 — April 18, 2015

Michael Donovan Winpigler, 29, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life to the next on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Born on December 20, 1985, in Frederick, Maryland, he is the son of Chris and Sabrina (Brugh) Winpigler of Hagerstown.

Michael was a 2004 graduate from Boonsboro High School. He earned his Associate of Arts Degree at Horry Georgetown Technical College, and he achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree at Coastal Carolina University, both in Conway, South Carolina.

He was employed as a Project Manager with CJW Contractors, Inc. in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Michael loved his high school years and had many friends. He was presented with the Captain's Award for Indoor Track and played football and soccer. He excelled in his academics in both high school and college and we are very proud of his accomplishments. He loved the special times with his cousins, summer trips to the Outer Banks and snowboarding with his very special friends. Michael loved to hike and always felt at home in the mountains. Unfortunately, there was one mountain Michael couldn't climb over, his battle with addiction.  Michael had the kindest soul and spirit and you knew you had met someone special. He will be so dearly missed on this earth. He leaves behind his 14 month old daughter Emma whom he cherished and loved with all his heart.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Emma Mazzy Winpigler and her mother, Jacqueline Smith of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; one brother, Christopher Winpigler and fiance Danielle Strite of Hedgesville, West Virginia; one nephew, Colby L. Winpigler, also of Hedgesville; his maternal grandmother, Sharon DeLap and husband Robert Wayne of Cape Coral, Florida; his maternal grandfather, Larry Brugh and wife Kathy of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Hogan and husband Gary of Needmore, Pennsylvania; his paternal grandfather, Reginald Winpigler and wife Debbie of Frederick; and his maternal great grandmother, Billie Hires of Cape Coral. He is also survived by many very special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael's family and friends are invited to join in celebration of his life journey anytime between 2 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

In lieu of flowers, a trust fund is being set up for Emma. If you are interested in contributing, you may contact Chris or Sabrina Winpigler at emmastrust@gmail.com or personally.
