Michael Stanton

Michael "Mike"  Stanton, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital with his family by his side on December 30, 2020, at the age of 63 years.

He was the loving husband to Karen Stanton for 37 years and the proud father of Michelle and Lori Stanton. He was the beloved brother to Connie (Buddy) Smallwood, Dolly (Chip) Lewis, and Joseph (Mary) Stanton and beloved uncle to Jason (Serina), Jenny (Andy), Rebecca (Keith), and Theresa.

He was the son of his beloved parents; the late Orville Stanton and Therese Stanton.

Mike attended Saint Jude Regional Catholic School, Good Council Catholic High School, and Wheaton High School. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. Mike worked as a kitchen designer at Home Depot in Germantown, MD for over 22 years. Prior to this, he worked as a manager at Erol’s video for 14 years. Mike was a lifelong Maryland resident.

Mike was a devoted Washington Redskins fan and a talented baseball pitcher growing up. He enjoyed spending vacations with his family at Wildwood, NJ. Mike loved spending long summer weekends at his brother Joe’s and spending holidays with his family. He enjoyed bicycle riding, playing pool volleyball, woodworking, and listening to 80’s rock music while riding his lawnmower. Mike loved grilling burgers out on the deck, cooking chili in the crockpot, and getting ice cream at Jimmie Cone while seeing the car show. He loved his pets Shannon, Cuddles, Sparkles, and Buffy.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E Ridgeville Blvd, Mt Airy, MD on Wednesday, January 13, from 2 to 4pm where a prayer service will take place at 3:00 pm.

Catholic Mass of Christian burial will be held at a future date at Saint Michaels Catholic Church, 1125 Saint Michael’s Road, Mount Airy, MD.
