Michael Sheehy "Pops"

Mr. Michael Jeremiah Sheehy "Pops", 85, of Frederick died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Erika Veronica Sheehy who predeceased him on March 3, 2004.

Born February 26, 1929 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Marie Caton Sheehy.

He retired from the Government Printing Office after 33 years of service. Pops was a veteran of the United States Army and Navy, and he was a proud member of the American Legion Gold Star Post #191.

An avid Redskins fan, Pops never missed a single game for 50 years, until he began watching his grandsons play football. He also was a faithful fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Pops will be greatly missed.

He is survived by four children, Rita Hubbard of Charles Town, WV; Patrick Sheehy of Edgewater, MD; Kathleen Colella of Harpers Ferry, WV; and Timothy T. Sheehy and wife, Deborah, of Mt. Airy; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany, Sharon, Laura, Marshall, Kelly, Shannon, Colleen, Jackie, Sean and Christopher; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
