Michael Pine

May 15, 1950 — September 2, 2013

Mr. Michael Joseph Pine, 63, of Mt. Airy died unexpectedly Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, on March 26, 2007.

Born May 15, 1950 in Ogden, Utah, he was the son of Joseph Pine of Montgomery, Alabama, and the late Marion McArthur Pine.

Michael was a Principal Engineer with ABS Consulting of Rockville at the time of his death. He had a 40-year career as a computer programming engineer. He loved music, especially Beethoven and classic rock.

Michael loved to golf, travel, play cards and he enjoyed Civil War era dancing. He was fascinated with history, astronomy (building his own telescope and model rockets), and space. He enjoyed learning about WWII era planes and ships. He loved sports and was an avid Redskins fan. Michael also loved movies, classic cars, fine dining and wine, and he was a supporting member of the Kennedy Center.

Above all else, Michael loved his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his fiancée, Sharon Schuster of New Windsor; his daughter, Elizabeth Pine Pellak and husband, Eric, of West Friendship; two grandchildren, Jackson and Samantha; five brothers and sisters, David Pine and wife, Wendy, of California; Leslie Jackson and husband, Gary, of Alabama; John Pine and wife, Sharon, of Georgia; Connie Pine of Alabama; and Doug Pine and wife, Sophia, of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 7. Officiating will be the Rev. Helen Armiger.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
