Michael Kretzer

Michael Kretzer, 73, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed from this life, of a pulmonary embolism, on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on July 10, 1948, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Donald D. "Cy" and Ann K. "Missy" (Highberger) Kretzer. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. Kretzer for 51 years.

Mike was a retired Maryland State Police trooper currently a part-time employee of the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Early in his career, he was an instrumental music teacher for the Washington County Public School System.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Mike is survived by his children, Ryan M. Kretzer and Chelsea McNally of Tucson, AZ, Joshua D. Kretzer and Beth Cleveland of Sharpsburg, and Kathryn E. Toy and husband, Eric, of Boonsboro; sister, Rebecca Weaver and husband, Russell, and Mark D. Kretzer all of Sharpsburg; and four granddaughters, Chiara and Sora Kretzer, Ann Elise Toy, and Noelle Kretzer.

He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Sylvia Ann.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 and one hour prior to services on Saturday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the funeral home in Boonsboro.
