Mr. Michael George Kidder, 73, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, July 27th at Homewood at Crumland Farms. He was the husband of Lynne Kidder.
He was born February 5, 1941 in Des Moines, IA to Mary Kay Kidder, currently of Frederick, and the late George Kidder.
Michael served in the United States Army from 1964-1968. Following a successful career in journalism, during which he serves as editor of three California newspapers, he joined Bechtel as a public affairs manager in 1989. He retired from Bechtel in 2010, having represented Bechtel projects throughout the world. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Drake University.
Michael served on the board of many local nonprofit organizations, including United Way, Frederick County YMCA, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity. He was also a member of the Carroll Creek Rotary.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by five children, Sandy Kidder Gaines and husband Matt, David Kidder, Joshua Daghlian and wife Kara, Adam Narvaiz, and Paul Narvaiz; two grandchildren, Sophie and David Daghlian; a brother Geoffrey Kidder, and a niece and nephew, Ariah Kidder and Forrest Kidder.
Funeral arrangements will be private at Michael's request.
