Michael Thomas Geiser, 55, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born in Frederick on December 29, 1958, he was the son of Thomas M. and Janet E. Geiser.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters; Wendy Sue Crutchley, Julie Blayne Darr and husband, Mike, a nephew, Jacob Darr and a niece, Elizabeth Darr.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Tom Crutchley. He will be missed by his numerous friends and his dog, Neller.
He was a life member of Tuscarora Gun Club, Frederick County Fish and Game Protective Association “Camp Kanawha” and Sons of Amvets.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair since 2001, he continued to live an active life, with the help from family and some very good friends, especially ace buddy, Al Geisler, who was more like a brother.
Prior to his injury, he and another great buddy, Tom Nikirk, were somewhat world travelers. They traveled to Europe, South America, Africa, and the Far East. And Mike, “The Cookie Man” as he was affectionately known by friends, also made many hunting and fishing trips with other buddied to quite a few place in North America.
His biggest love was fishing; he always claimed that he was born too far from the sea. For many years he had a nice boat and a place at the bay.
Around home, over the years, numerous youngsters became “close little buds”, mowed a lot of grass and did a lot of jobs over the years, guess you could call them the sons he never had. They were Corey Jones, Garrett Geisler, Austin Geisler, and Zack Geiser.
Sooner or later we have to talk about work. He earned a living and the nickname “The Cookie Man” from being the distributor of Pepperidge Farm cookies and snack crackers.
Since his accident his sister Wendy has managed the business with the help of two loyal employees that are almost like family, Mary Ann Baer and Bernie Sofranko.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
