Mr. Merle Edward Crouse, Sr. , 85, of Thurmont, MD passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Elsie E. Crouse who predeceased him on June 30, 2013.
Born on February 26,1929 in Thurmont, MD he was the son of the late Lester and Louise Gigeous Crouse.
Merle worked at Moore Business Forms in Thurmont and retired after 33 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Thurmont American Legion, and the Emmitsburg V.F.W. Moore Recreation Club. He loved to go bowling with childhood friend Clifford Stull, fishing with his grandson, and fellowshipping with his many friends at picnics and gatherings.
He is survived by his son Edward Crouse and wife Susan of Foxville and his daughter Nancy Anderson and husband Jerry of Thurmont; granddaughter Kate Derexson and husband Chad and grandson Matthew Crouse and wife Crystal; 4 great-grandchildren Kelby Benjamin, Caleb Derexson, Chaslyn Derexson and Joshua Crouse
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 6-9pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17 at 10:30am at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15 N. Church St., Thurmont. Pastor Susan Beck will officiate.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
