Meredith Wisner "Poppy," 74 of Union Bridge (formerly of Walkersville) passed away Friday in the arms of his family after a strong fight against kidney cancer. He was born July 23rd, 1943 to Gladys Day Mullinix and Harry Lewis Wisner Jr. He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 55 years, Nancy Best Wisner, daughter Crystal Wisner Wiles, son-in-law Scott Wiles, grandson Garrett Wiles, granddaughter Dallas Wiles-Rosenthal, and grandson in-law AJ Rosenthal. He was preceded in death by his brother Garnett Wisner, husband of Joan Wisner, and sister-in-law Shirley Wisner. Meredith is particularly proud of his grandchildren. He made it to his goal of seeing both of his grandchildren graduate from college after watching his grandson cross the University of Maryland stage earlier in the week. He was a humble gardener, avid fisherman, and believer in Christ. Meredith worked at the Frederick Coca-Cola plant for 30 years before continuing his career in biotech sciences at Cambrex in Walkersville. His loving, caring, and selfless personality will be carried on through the lives he touched while here on Earth.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, MD on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1 at 2PM.
Interment will follow at Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Camp Inclusion, a non-profit founded by Meredith’s granddaughter and her husband or the Linganore United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
