Mrs. Melonie A. Kovera, 56, of Frederick died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Matthew Kovera. They were married for nearly 19 years.

Born July 28, 1956 in Columbus, GA, Melonie was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Fannie Sue Gray Miller.

She worked at several different jobs in the Frederick County area over the years. She worked at the former Victor Cullen Center in Sabillasville. Melonie was a pharmacy technician for nine years at Weis Grocery at Amber Meadows. She had a home daycare business; and more recently worked in the Sterile Processing/Inventory Control department at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Melonie loved spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending many of the area carnivals during the summer. She was an avid collector of angels, and she enjoyed chatting with her friends on her computer.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tamara Dixon and husband, Patrick, of Japan and their two children, Kylie and Aaron; and Ihlea Kovera and friend, Paul Martinez, of Thurmont, and their daughter, Kelsey; a sister, Margaret Shuff of Frederick, and her daughters, Dawn Glass and husband, Jeff, of Pennsylvania; and Brittney Freeman and husband, Vinny, of North Carolina and their families.

Melonie also will be remembered by her in-laws, Charles and Delores Kovera of Griffith, Ind. and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant brother, James Miller, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A Celebration of Melonie's Life will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 29 from the funeral home chapel. Celebrant will be Jacqui Kreh.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
