Melissa Ann (Stup) Jarvis

Mrs. Melissa Ann (Stup) Jarvis, 51, a lifelong Walkersville dairy farmer, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 23, 2016. She was the wife of Larry Gene Jarvis, Jr. They just celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.

Born January 1, 1965 in Frederick, she was the daughter of Jim and Louise Stup of Walkersille.

Melissa was a 1982 graduate of Walkersville High School. After her marriage to her high school sweetheart, Larry, on April 4, 1983, they traveled extensively as he continued his service with the military. They welcomed their daughter, Stephanie, while living in Germany. Two years later, their son, Andrew, was born at Frederick Memorial Hospital while they were home on leave. After Larry completed his service, they returned home to Walkersville and the family dairy operation, Teabow Farms, where Melissa was vice-president.

She loved to travel and would not visit the same place twice, except for Vegas. She was looking forward to visiting her son and his family in Nebraska.

Melissa, or "Maw" as her grandchildren affectionately called her, could often be found spending time with her four grandchildren or attending their soccer games. Family meant everything to her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Melissa is survived by her children, Stephanie Keiser and husband, Nick, of Walkersville; Andrew Jarvis and fiancée, Kaitlin Moser of Nebraska; four grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan and Brayden Keiser, and Hayleigh Jarvis; her sister, Esther Myers and husband, John, of Reisterstown; and her brother, Jimmy Stup and wife, Terrie, of Walkersville, and their families; her father-in-law, Larry G. Jarvis, Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Carolyn Jarvis.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, where a funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th. Officiating will be the Rev. Albert K. Lane, III.

Following the service, the funeral procession will drive by the family farm before interment in Glade Cemetery. Serving as bearers will be Chris Keiser, Tim Keiser, John Myers III, Adam Stup, Buddy Barnett and Gregg Burdette.
