Mayetta "Dolly" L. (Harris) Toms, born December 9, 1928, of Frederick, Maryland, entered into Eternal Rest on January 13, 2015, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family. Dolly was the loving wife of Harold Toms of 58 years, who predeceased her on Aug. 27, 2010.
Dolly “MeMe” as all who knew her, lived life to its fullest, was a strong Christian, and was the longest active member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
Surviving Dolly, is her son, Tony W. Toms and wife, Kelly, of Thurmont; daughter, Robin L. Taber of Myersville; along with special granddaughters, Amber Taber McQueen (Steve) and Alana Taber Lee (Ryan); MaryAvery Toms, and Shelby Jo Toms. Dolly is also survived by her precious 1st great-granddaughter, Marcella Rose McQueen. Dolly also leaves behind sisters, Peachie Wachter (Scottie), Rennie Gerwig (Buster); and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dolly was deceased by her sister, Jackie, and husband, Tommy Staley.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702. Pastor Dana Werts will officiate. Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, in Frederick.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
If any one word could describe Dolly best, it would be “dedicated”. She gave so much love and dedication to her family, friends and her church family.
