Maxine Marie Mikus, age 86, of Keedysville, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family and Pastor Joseph Burdette on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at her home.
Born Dec. 22, 1920 near Trego, MD, Maxine was a daughter of the late George W. and Carrie L. Norris Abbott.
She had been employed for 30 years at Ike's Nook in Hagerstown and later at the Maryland Theater.
Maxine was a lifelong member of Mt. Briar First Church of God where she was treasurer of the building fund.
She was a member and past president of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary in Boonsboro.
Maxine is survived by one son, Anthony W. Mikus and wife Linda of Keedysville; one daughter, Beverly L. Mikus of Nichols, SC; two granddaughters, Ronda S. Hardy and husband Scott, and Andrea L. Hartle and husband Steve, all of Keedysville; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy S. Hardy, Zachary S. Hardy, Aaron L. Hartle and Sydney L. Hartle; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ethel L. Reynolds, Gladys I. Reel, Ora M. Long and Charlene G. Rohrer, and six brothers, Doyle L. Abbott, George W. Abbott, Melvin R. Abbott, Austin L. Abbott, Harry H. Abbott and Arthur W. Abbott.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Tuesday at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Jan Wade will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Rohrersville, MD.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
