Maximino “Max” Crespo, 70, of
Frederick
died Tuesday, October 19 at home surrounded by family following a hard fought three year battle with cancer.
Max was born
January 11, 1940
in Yabucoa,
Puerto Rico
the son of Cruz and Manuela Rivas Munoz de Crespo. He moved with his family to
Chicago
,
Illinois
when he was 15 years old and graduated from
John
Marshall
High School
in
Chicago
. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 1961. While in the USMC Max completed specialist training in guerilla warfare and weapons handling. He was honorably discharged in July 1967 with the rank of Sergeant E-5.
While stationed at
Quantico
,
Virginia
Max met and married his wife of 45 years, Rose Mary Crespo (nee Avery). Following his discharge from the USMC, Max and Rose remained in
Virginia
before moving to
Frederick
,
MD
where they have lived for 39 years. Max retired in 1999 after 14 years of faithful service as a Loan Officer with the Pan-American Health Organization/World Health Organization Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed many years of retirement avidly pursuing his hobbies of fishing and working in his flower gardens. Upon his wife’s retirement in 2006 they enjoyed a much planned for driving trip cross-country prior to the onset of his illness.
Max is survived by his devoted wife, Rose, as well as his sons Christopher Crespo and wife, Dana, of Hagerstown, MD; Brian Crespo and wife, Stacey, of Hedgesville, WV; daughters Renee Reyes and husband, Randy, of Clarksville, MD and
Michelle
Eugeni
and husband, Ed, of Frederick, MD; his grandchildren Garrett, Morgan, Daniel, Jacob, John, Logan, Alyssa, Sonia and Carina; his brothers Nicolas Crespo and wife, Margarita of Florida; Angel Crespo and wife, Catalina, of Tennessee; Adolfo Crespo and wife, Mercedes of Puerto Rico; Justo Crespo and wife, Felicita, of Florida; sisters Elena Crespo de Medina of Puerto Rico; Ana Navarro and husband, Jose, of Puerto Rico as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two of his brothers, Antonio Crespo and Cruz Crespo and one sister, Josefina Crespo de Gomez.
The family will receive friends from

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday October 22 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 116 E. 2

Burial will immediately follow at
