Mr. Maurice L. Boyer, 85, of Libertytown died Monday December 4, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sandra L. Boyer, who predeceased him on October 14, 2010. They were married for 57 years at the time of her death.
Born November 27, 1932 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Nusbaum) Boyer.
He was a dairy farmer for many years. Following retirement, he worked for Poole Construction in Libertytown. Later, he was self employed as a truck driver. Mr. Boyer enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting, bowling, and going to Charles Town. In later years, he enjoyed working at Stan Tucker's farm until the age of 82.
Mr. Boyer is survived by his children, James Boyer and wife, Sue, of Mt. Airy; Eddie Boyer and wife, Beth, of Keymar; Barbara Garst and husband, Dick, of Keymar; Cindy Oxley of Frederick; and Sharon Phillips and husband, John, of Oakland, MD; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Burrier, and Carol Ann Getzandanner and husband, Wayne; son-in-law, Rick Bowie of Sunset Beach, NC; brother-in-law, Gordon Brauning; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Glenn Dayhoff; and his dear friends, the Tucker family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Bowie; a sister, Betty Brauning; and a brother-in-law, Sterling Burrier.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 8. Officiating will be Rev. Tim May.
Interment will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery in Libertytown. Mr. Boyer's grandchildren will be pallbearers.
