Ms. Maureen C. Taylor, 64, of Frederick, MD died Friday, July 13, 2007 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born in Waltham, MA on October 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late US Navy Capt. Francis Chip Cunnare and Mrs. Irene Cunnare.

She will be remembered for being an educator, a friend, and a mother.

Maureen received her Bachelor's degree from University of Maryland in Elementary Education. Later, she completed her Master's degree at George Washington University in Special Education. Maureen was an educator for almost 30 years in Frederick County Public Schools. She taught thousands of children of all ages including 10 years working with special needs children with autism, down syndrome, and emotional disorders.

She was a member of Monocacy Valley Church. She had a strong Christian spirit, loving heart, and opened her home to those in need. She believed in volunteerism. She was a Special Olympics volunteer. In recent years, she volunteered at Families Plus! and Homewood at Crumland Farms. She received the Volunteer of the Year award from Families Plus! in 2006.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She had hobbies she loved, like painting ceramics for family and friends, creating scrapbooks, and painting with acrylics and watercolors. She wrote poetry to express herself in writing. She believed in angels and collected angel figurines.

Survivors include her two children, son Owen Taylor and wife Meaghan of Denver, Colorado and daughter Christine Solan and husband David of Germantown, MD and her grandchildren, Ethan and Grace Solan. She is also survived by three siblings, Richard Cunnare and wife Susan with their two children, David and John; Robert Cunnare, and Patricia Benz and husband Ken with their two children, Lauren and Emily.

Services: Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. from the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD with Rev. Mark Vander Meer officiating.
