Mary L. Currence , 82, passed away on May 28, 2007 in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she had been living for the past 5 years. She lived in Walkersville for 40 years from 1962-2002 where she made lifelong friends. Thirty-eight of those years in Walkersville were with her husband Virgil, who passed away in 2000. They were married 53 years. Having been separated for the past 7 years they are happily back together now.
Born November 9, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Esther Lewis. Mrs. Currence was an educational assistant in the Frederick County School System for numerous years, mostly at East Frederick Elementary School. She truly enjoyed helping the students during her career. She was a member of the Elks 684 Ladies Auxiliary in Frederick where she made many friends and lasting memories. She enjoyed bowling, camping, sewing, knitting, music, and collecting bears. Most of all she enjoyed traveling and visiting her family.
Surviving Mrs. Currence are her children, a daughter, Debra P. Maytubby and husband Lee of Albuquerque, NM; and two sons, William D. Currence and wife Charlene of Marquette, MI and Richard S. Currence and wife Patricia of Ocean City, MD; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. Currence was preceded in death by one brother, William Lewis and one sister Ann Swaboda.

Services:
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. The Rev. Albert K. Lane, III, Executive Pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
