Mrs. Mary Jeanette Zimmerman Delphey Welty, 83, of Blue Ridge Summit, MD departed this life on January 18, 2009 with her loving family by her side. She resided with her grandson Michael Delphey and wife Jonelle and girls for the past fifteen years.
Mrs. Delphey was born on September 29, 1925 in Union Bridge, MD and was the daughter of the late Leo F. Zimmerman and Roberta Pauline Alexander.
She resided with her grandparents Walter and Mary Alexander after the age of nine.
She graduated from Elmer A. Wolfe School in 1943 and worked as a seamstress for many years. She also was a top cook for the Hut in Woodsboro, MD.
On October 13, 1944, she married Delmar R. Delphey who passed away in 1952.
In 1960 she married her 2nd husband James H. Welty who passed in May of 1997. She was a member of the Evangelical Bible Church of Thurmont, MD.
She is survived by a daughter Delma Josephine Delphey and husband Richard of Woodsboro, MD and a son Robert L. Delphey and wife Louann of Thurmont, MD, eight grandchildren, Michael Delphey, Bobbi Jo Barber, Michael Toms, Mary Margaret Danner, Cheryl Ridenour, Tracey Ridenour, Katrina Gardner and Tonya Sanders, twenty five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, a sister Margaret Tootie Haines and husband Nevin of Westminster, MD, a brother Charles Bub Zimmerman and wife Betty of Union Bridge, MD and numerous nieces and nephews, a special cousin Shirley Soper and husband Paul of Union Bridge, MD, step-daughter Linnis Bruner and husband William and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant son Delmar Ernest Delphey, one granddaughter Baby Toms and a good friend Charles H. Fix.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Evangelical Bible Church, 14698 Albert Staub Court, Thurmont, MD, Thursday, January 22, from 1 - 9:00 p.m.
Services:
Services will be held at the Evangelical Bible Church Friday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Jonathan Laye and Donna Sandridge officiating.
Interment Monocacy Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Rocky Ridge
Pallbearers will be Michael Toms, Nick Toms, JT Toms, Michael Danner, Brant Munday and Kenny Nowacki
