Mary Jane (Coblentz) Fravel, 70, of Kearneysville, West Virginia was called home on December 31, 2009 in Glennville, Georgia.

Born on June 24, 1939 in Yarrowsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Nuse) Coblentz. She was the youngest of three children and was married to the late Robert Fravel in 1966.

Soon after her marriage, Mary Jane worked in the clerical department for National Geographic and after the birth of her son she became a devoted mother and housewife. She worked as an assistant clerk at the Jefferson County Court House from 1988 until her retirement in 2004. Mary Jane had a gentle spirit about her and loved animals and nature. She was a friend to anyone in need, and a compassionate caregiver. Her innocence was endearing and her laugh was infectious. Mary Jane was the epitome of strength and courage during her battle with cancer and served as a constant support to all those who loved her.

She is survived by her son Robert Fravel and his wife Carlene of Glennville, Georgia; two grandsons, Zachary and Seth Fravel of Glennville, Georgia; one brother, Tom Coblentz and his wife Sandra of Yarrowsburg, Maryland; and two nephews, Jim Hutzell and his wife Judy of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Jeff Hutzell and his wife JoAnn of Gapland, Maryland. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, her long time companion Bill Gray of Leetown, West Virginia, and her two beloved furry friends, "Paws" and "Spikey".

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Dr. George T. Schramm will officiate. Interment will be at Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville, Maryland.
