Mary Holford Delaney, 81, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Frederick, MD. She was the beloved wife of William "Bill" Delaney for 61years.
Born in February 1941 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late James Leo and Velma (Coppers) Holford.
She graduated from Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. She was a dedicated restauranteur and devoted herself to running the family-owned Irish Inn in White Oak, MD. She loved to travel and worked for many years in the travel industry, including Icelandair, which allowed her to travel to many exciting places abroad. She loved art and photography and created beautiful crafts and crocheted blankets for her children and grandchildren. She was a faith-filled Catholic with devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Rosary and the Infant of Prague.
She is preceded in death by her son, Captain William Patrick Delaney, USMC and is a Gold Star Mom. In addition to her husband, William P. Delaney, she is survived by her son John Delaney and daughters Theresa Anthony (James) and Patricia Paquette, grandchildren Heather (John), Colin, Kevin and Daniel, and great grandchildren Braeden, Anastyn, Emersyn and Brooklyn.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday March 22 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 23 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 116 E. Second Street in Frederick, MD. Father John Streifel will officiate. An Irish wake will immediately follow at the church hall.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
