Mrs. Mary Frances Wetzel Diehl, 71 of Waynesboro, PA, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2009 after a short illness.
She was the wife of Harry David Diehl, her husband of 54 years.
Born January 23, 1938 in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Russell and Elizabeth Hattie Eyler Wetzel.
Mrs. Diehl graduated from Emmitsburg School.
She was formerly employed as the Emmitsburg Meter Maid for 18 years, she worked at the Taneytown Shoe Factory, Freeman Shoe in Emmitsburg, The Emmitsburg pants factory, and numerous other places in the community.
She was a former member of the Indian lookout Conversation Club and the Blue Ridge Sportsman's Club.
Mary was well known for her famous Slippery Beef pot pie at the Indian Lookout Conversation Club shooting matches for many years. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Mary had a large heart and loved to help people. She loved going to family get together's and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed listening to her granddaughter Ellie May sing.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children Hugo D. Diehl and wife Lori of Hedgesville, WV, Miss Harry H. Diehl and friend Vince Myers of Hanover, PA, and Carolyn J. Eyler and husband Don of Fairfield, PA, her brothers and sisters Russell Wetzel and wife Martha, Kenneth Wetzel, Edward Wetzel and wife Pasty all of Emmitsburg, John Wetzel and wife Mary Lou of Rouzerville, PA, Shirley Moser and husband Charles, Robert Wetzel and wife Nancy, and Linda Hummerick and husband Paul all of Emmitsburg, nine grandchildren, Graver Diehl, Luke Diehl, Tanya Diehl, Charlie Sayler, Thomas Sayler, Christopher Brady, Courtney Philips, Ellie Wastler, Donald Eyler, Jr. And Tammy Getzandanner, and 8 great grandchildren. Special friends and caregivers Jane Shorb and Sara Green of Emmitsburg, Lyn Muck, Lena Rowe, Lou Kennedy and Sue Wastler all of Waynesboro, PA.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Wetzel, half sisters Ruth Andrew and Betty Miller and a niece Michelle Wetzel

Services: Memorial services will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD., Monday, December 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. With Father Robert Malagesi officiating. Interment Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
