Mary {Ann} Swinburn

Mrs. Mary Ann Swinburn, 74, of Mount Airy, and loving wife of the late Lawrence L. Swinburn, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, from lung complications.

She was born April 5, 1935, in Spotsylvania County, Va., to Thomas J. and Agnes C. Perryman Faulconer. In 1951, she married Lawrence Swinburn. They lived in College Park for 40 years, where she worked for the USDA in the cartography lab for about 15 years. She was a devoted member of College Park United Methodist Church. There she served as a volunteer church youth counselor for five years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. In 1995, Mrs. Swinburn followed her children by moving to Mount Airy.

After leaving the USDA, Mrs. Swinburn enjoyed family Sunday dinners, traveling across the country in her motorhome, family weekends at Rehoboth Beach, Del., and many cruises with her family.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and often caregiver for many loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and eight siblings. She is survived by her children, Sheri Heckert and husband, Walter, Dale Swinburn and wife, Sandi, and Debbie Lipkey and husband, Don; her grandchildren, Aaron Heckert and wife, Kassy, Brandon Heckert and wife, Mel, Curtis Heckert and fianc?e, Beth Isaacson, Devin Zampier, Emily Swinburn and fianc?, Jesse Lee, Geni Lipkey, Foster Lipkey and Leslie Mimms. She was great-grandmother of Hannah, Julie, Josh, Whitney, Ayden, Mya and Leslie; sister of Jean Cochran and Dewey Davis; and aunt to many nieces and nephews.





Visitation: Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan. 24, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Lung Association.
