Mrs. Mary Alice M. Ramsburg of Woodsboro and formerly of Westminster passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Kline Hospice House.
She was the wife of the late Walter Ramsburg who passed away in 1999. They had been married for 52 years.
Born July 1, 1927 in Westminster she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. Martz and Mary Grossnickle Martz.
Mary Alice graduated from Westminster High School in 1944 and was also a graduate of Baltimore Business College. She worked for B.F. Shriver Company and then the Newman Book Store until her marriage. She was a dedicated farmer’s wife until Walter formed Ramsburg Electric Service, so she helped him by doing the office work.
She was a member of Glade United Church of Christ, the Zwingli Bible Class, Women’s Guild Service and served on the alter committee.
Mary Alice was a charter member of the Glade Valley Grange for a short time.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her flowers and gardening which she continued until 2010.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Gregory and husband James of Anna, Texas, granddaughters, Traci Jeffers and husband Chris of Dallas, TX and Jacki Geren of McKinney, TX and a great grandson, Preston Geren. She will also be remembered by her niece, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her cats, Big Boy and Goldie.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Ramsburg who passed away in 2004.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville on Friday, August 9th from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Ave., Walkersville on Saturday, August 10th at 11:00AM with the Rev. Philip N. Curran officiating. The family will also be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10-11AM.
Interment will be in Glade Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kline Hospice House, Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or to Kaye E. Ramsburg Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
