Mary Jane "Mag" Wiles, 79, of Frederick, passed away on March 31, 2024 at Kline Hospice House.

Born on March 3, 1945, she was the daughter of Meredith L. "Buck" Wachter and Edna Marie Gue Wachter.

Mag was a 1963 graduate of Linganore High School. She worked at Betty's Restaurant in Frederick, Bucheimers in Frederick and Airpax in Frederick. She retired after 15 years as a housekeeper at Lorien in Mt. Airy. She was a longtime member of New Market Volunteer Fire Company, where she served as an officer in the Ladies Auxiliary. She also served on Antique Fire Engine Committee and assisted in the kitchen. Mag loved playing Bingo, listening to country music, watching Wheel of Fortune and talking on the phone with her friends and relatives as well as attending family get-togethers.

She is survived by six siblings, Jerry Wachter and wife, Doris, of Frederick, Thomas Wachter and wife, Franny, of Lewistown, Gale Wachter of Frederick, Richard Wachter and wife, Roxanne, of Frederick, Shirley Beard and husband, Larry, of Walkersville, Ronald Wachter and wife, Lori, of Harper's Ferry, WV; as well as a sister-in-law, Julie Wachter of Walkersville; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special friends, Patsy and Paul Taylor and Violet Myers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Donald Wachter, David Wachter and Nancy Stull.

The family sends special thanks to Rev. Ron Brown of Chapel Lutheran Church, Libertytown and Chaplain Gary White of the New Market Volunteer Fire Company for their visits as well as the wonderful staff at the Kline Hospice House.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at New Market Volunteer Fire Company, 76 West Main Street, New Market, MD 21774.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Market Volunteer Fire Company Antique Fire Engine Fund, at the above address.
