Mary Ward

Mary L. Ward of Ijamsville, MD passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 28, 2015. Mary was born on October 24, 1930 in Prince George's County, MD to Eunice and Alvin W. Long. She graduated from Greenbelt High School at the age of 15 and immediately began her career with the Federal Government, working for 30 years as a budget analyst for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mary was a longtime active member of Burtonsville Baptist Church serving on many committees and later became a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church also located in Burtonsville, MD. Mary married Bill Ororian in 1948, who predeceased her in 1974 and then married Dr. David J. Ward in 1978 who predeceased her in 1987. Mrs. Ward enjoyed golf, bowling, country line dancing, traveling and oil painting. She will dearly be missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Predeceased by her parents and husbands she is survived by her daughter, Susan Robin (Clay J.) Davis; stepmother of Christine Shirey, Kevin and Richard Ward; grandmother of Kyle J. and Bryce W. Davis, Andy Shirey, Katy Swanson, Susan, Patrick, Erin, Shane and Sarah Ward; sister of Alvin (Doris) Long, Jr. Relatives and friends may call at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm where service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11 am.
