Mary Trout

July 21, 1921 — May 31, 2018

Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Trout, passed away on May 31, 2018 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was born near Libertytown, MD on July 21, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Glenn and Reba Haifleigh Trout.

Libby was a graduate of Walkersville High School, Class of 1938. Then she took a 2-year business course at the Visitation Academy.

In 1940 she went to work for the Farm Security Administration in Frederick until the Frederick office was transferred. In 1947 she went to work at Fort Detrick as secretary to the Director of Development. In 1970 she transferred to National Bureau of Standards (now Nist) retiring in 1977. Upon retirement from the government, she went to work for the law offices of Brown & Sturn, retiring from there in 1983. Next she worked part-time at Comsat in the steno pool for five years, completely retiring in 1988.

She was a life-long member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, NARFE Chapter 409, AARP Chapter #636, American Legion Auxiliary #282, Woodsboro, MD, and Glade Valley Women’s 18-Hole Golf Association.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James G. Trout. She is survived by her sister-in-law, June Trout, Walkersville, MD, two nieces, Patricia T. Clem and husband Jeffery, Boynton Beach, FL, and Martha T. Strawsburg and husband, Kenneth, Walkersville, MD and a very special great-nephew, Matthew D. Strawsburg, Frederick, MD. She is also survived by many special cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 8th, 2018 at 2:30pm in the chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms. Family will receive friends from 2:00-2:30pm. Inurnment will be private.
