She took a few years off from school to raise her son, Brian, then attended Mount St. Mary’s College. Mary graduated from Mount St. Mary’s with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education in 1972. Mary taught at many schools in the Ephrata Area School District including Bergtrasse, Akron, and Clay. She retired from Clay Intermediate School in 2012. Mary was highly respected by her students, fellow teachers, and administrators. Her special teaching talents were always in Math.
Mary was a gardener, an excellent seamstress, a crafter, and a baker. She loved growing flowers both inside and outside her home. She enjoyed baking cakes for family and friends. Mary made beautiful cakes for all occasions, including wedding cakes for all her nieces' and nephews' weddings.
She loved spending time with her family and was instrumental in planning the family reunions each year. Mary’s friends described her as caring, consistent, and dedicated. Her family agrees, wholeheartedly! There is nothing Mary would not have done for a family member or friend.
