Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Roelkey Simpson, 90, owner and operator of Simpson Farms of Lovettsville, Virginia, was born unto Heaven on October 13, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Franklin Simpson.
Mary was born on September 3, 1922 and raised on a farm in Knoxville, MD. She was the daughter of the late David Henry and Helen Hightman Roelkey.
She is survived by her daughters, Selva S. Karslo of North Bethesda, Md., and Kathryn Frye and husband, Ronald, of Purcellville, Virginia; son, Jack Simpson; granddaughters, Stacy L. Ford and her husband, Greg, and their son, Eric Allen Ford, of Kabletown, W. VA, and Jessica Nicole Simpson of Gerrardstown, W. Va.; grandson, Craig Frye and his wife, Crissy, of Purcellville, Va., and their children, Caitlin, Cory and Conner; and a brother, Robert Roelkey of Brownsville, MD.
She will be remembered by her caregivers, Eva Auroza Rivera and Juvi Sandobal; along with Hospice of Frederick.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Roy Franklin Simpson, Jr. (Pete); her infant daughter; brothers, David, Bill, Oliver, Warren, John and Albert Roelkey; and sisters, Helen Ryan, Nina Filler, Lillian Harwood, Martha Roelkey and Alice Roelkey.
There will be no visitation or service at the funeral home. A graveside service/Roelkey family reunion celebrating Mary's life will be held in the spring of 2013 at the New Jerusalem Church in Lovettsville. Officiating will be Pastor Ann Hummer. For further information, contact skarslo@yahoo.com.
