Mary Ann Schimmel

Our precious mother, Mary Ann Schimmel, 90, of Bethesda, Maryland, recently residing in Frederick, passed from this life on September 23, 2022 in her home.
  She was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Clifford E. Halverson and Mary L. (Ford) Halverson on September 21, 1932.  She graduated from Mallinckrodt Catholic High School in 1950.  Soon after she met her husband of almost 68 years on a blind date, the late Eric Joseph Schimmel, he passed away on January 8, 2021.
 She dedicated her life selflessly to raising and caring for her family. She provided unconditional love for over 60 years and never expected anything in return.  Her sidekick, who she adored, was her mother-in-law, Louise Schimmel.  We had the fortune of a homemade meal every night for decades.  Like lovely flowers that brighten the world and bring joy to all that see them, Mom did the same.  We are grateful and blessed to have known her love and love her back.
She is survived by her five children Mary Titcomb(Ken) of Wheaton, MD, Eric C. Schimmel(Marjorie) of Germantown, MD, Lisa Large of Frederick, MD, Jennifer Reynolds(Bob) of Sarasota, FL, and Christopher Schimmel(JoAnn) of Leesburg, VA.  She leaves behind 11 beautiful grandchildren, Leah, Joe, and Eric Schimmel, Tori, Alex, and Nick Large, Bobby, Ryan, and Taylor Reynolds, and Emily and Reilly Schimmel, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.  Mary was predeceased not only by her parents and husband, but also her brother, Cliff, and her son-in-law, Thomas Large.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD 21702.  A short service will take place at 6:00pm.  Deacon Mike Currens will officiate.
Interment will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago (Norridge), Illinois on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 12:00 noon for Mary and Eric Schimmel.
