Mary A. Rogers

Mary A. Rogers, of Mount Airy MD, passed away peacefully at home on March 5th 2023 at the age of 92, with her daughters in loving attendance. 
She was born in Nanty-Glo, PA to Mary and Augustino Romagnino on July 13, 1931.  She grew up the middle child between her two sisters, Katherine and Rose.  They were raised by their amazing mother after their father died when they were very young.  She grew up very poor but happy and she had a mischievous streak in her that was always getting her into trouble.  
She had a love of art and after attending technical school in Williamsport, PA she became a technical illustrator for Vitro, Westinghouse, and Carter Control Systems. While visiting the Smithsonian’s Air and Space museum, she would proudly point out the many aircraft she had drawn including the Blackbird. 
She met her husband, Alden Rogers, in Maryland where she made him the first of many burnt offerings for dinner. They fell in love and married. They had many adventures during their marriage: buying a farm; traveling by RV all over the United States including Alaska; and taking trips to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Italy.  Their adventures shall give their family many fond and funny stories to tell for years to come. 
Her husband died in 2012 and they leave behind two daughters, Mary Jo York and Elizabeth Moravansky, four grandchildren, Lee, Liz, Rachael and Sarah, and two great grandchildren, Brayden and Carter.  Her family will miss her dearly but are grateful for the many years they were privileged to spend with her.
A Memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023 between 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.  Prayers will be offered at 2:00pm by Deacon Gerald Jennings at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt Airy, MD 21771.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the family farm.  Mary Rogers urn will be placed beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
