Mary Murphy Pilot, 93, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD

Born on May 12, 1925, in Bakerton, PA, she was the daughter of Michael  Romnosky and Mary L. (Lockmonic) Couturiaux.

She was predeceased by her husband, Oliver Pilot and daughter, Shaleen Murphy-Putman.

Mary was a graduate of Carroltown High School in Bakerton, PA, Class of 1944.

During the war she worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC.  After marriage, she became a full time mom until 1971.  Mary then became a hairdresser and owned her own salon for many years.

Mary loved everything with her family!  She looked forward to gathering together on every holiday with family and friends showing off her cooking skills!  She had a gift for growing- flowers and vegetables and then making those wonderful family meals.  She also loved to travel, she was always ready to pack a bag and see new sights.  Mary enjoyed the beach and bowling.  She belonged to the Early bird bowling league and had an average of 93!  She was always ready to dance... even around the house.

She is survived by her children, Linda Quesenberry and husband, Larry of Mt. Airy; Brooke Murphy of Laytonsville, Glen Murphy of Monrovia and Donald Murphy and wife Bonnie of Mt. Airy; sister, Connie Puryear of Clinton, MD; brother, Frank Couturiaux and wife, Donna of Melborn, FL. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.

A celebration of Mary's life journey will take place at 11:30 am on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.
Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in  Mount Airy, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
