Mary E. "Jean" O'Sullivan Rutledge, 94, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, December 19, 2016. She was a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick.
Born on December 19, 1922, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Loretta (Choupin) O'Sullivan.
She attended the Institute of Notre Dame for 12 years and furthered her education at Mt. St. Agnes College in Baltimore. During WWII, she worked at the Investigation Division of Internal Security Department.
Jean volunteered many hours at Frederick Memorial Hospital and worked with exceptional children at Rock Creek School in Frederick. As a Eucharistic Minister, she took great pride in ministering to shut-ins in private homes, also at Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville and at her residence in Homewood.
She is survived by James MacLeod "Mac" Rutledge of Boonsboro, MD and granddaughter, Anna Marie Dittbenner and husband, Neil, of Atlanta, GA, Tom Rutledge and Susan, of St. John, ND and grandson, Jacques Rutledge and wife, Stephanie, of Lincoln, ND and great-grandson, Jameson, Philip C. Rutledge and wife, Janet, of Brighton, CO and granddaughters, Ashlee Rutledge of Brighton, CO and Allison Rutledge of Austin, TX and Jerry R. Rutledge and Donna, of Mt. Airy, and daughter-in-law, Kathrine Will Rutledge of Woodbury, CT.
Jean was preceded in death by son, J. Charles Rutledge, February 2010.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road in Walkersville. Private burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Prayer service and reception will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 28th at Homewood Community Center Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Homewood at Crumland Farms, Benevolent Fund, 7404 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
