Mary Olsen

Mrs. Mary L. Olsen, 83 of Thurmont, MD, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the College View Center, Frederick, MD. Born May 31, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Flohr Schildt.
Mrs. Olsen was a 1945 graduate of Thurmont High School. She was a member of Rocky Ridge Church of the Brethren than later Thurmont Church of the Brethren. Mary was the Cafeteria Manager at Catoctin High for the Board of Education.
She retired in 1975. Mary enjoyed gardening and baking. Her Christmas cookies will be particularly missed.
Mrs. Olsen is survived by granddaughter Emily VanHart and husband Shane of Forest Hill, MD; grandson Andrew Olsen of Hanover, MD; great-grandsons Anthony and John; daughter-in-law- Sharon Olsen; sister Margaret Michael of Eldersburg, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son John "J.T." Olsen, sisters Elizabeth Lidie, Kathryn Stewart and Jeanette Schildt and her brother Paul Leonard Schildt.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Sunday, October 24, from 7-9:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m. at Wellers Cemetery with Mary’s great-nephew Robert L. Schildt officiating.
