Mrs. Mary Grace Mullinix, 88 of Mt. Airy died on March 7, 2013 at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy. She was the wife for 69 years of the late Rudell A. Mullinix who died in August 2011.
The baby of 7 children, she was born on August 1, 1924 Florence, MD. She was the daughter of the late William & Clara Justice Layton.
She worked for the Sewing Factory, Mt. Airy, International Harvester Co., Baltimore, MD in the Inventory & Supply Section, and as a lab technician working in cancer research at National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD.
She loved her family, supporting and following activities of her son and grandsons. She liked gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, crocheting, cards and bingo.
As a member of Providence United Methodist Church, she enjoyed teaching
Sunday school, Women's Society, church suppers, patting oysters and making
apple butter.
She is survived by her son Dennis R. Mullinix and wife Roxie of Mt. Airy.
Grandchildren Daniel Mullinix and wife Amanda of Hendersonville, NC and
Richard Mullinix and wife Tricia of Bowie. Great Grandchildren Latham, Mary Grace and Gavin. Sister Myrtle Whiting of Silver Spring. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her sister Adeline Jewitt and brothers Kenneth Layton, Herbert Layton, Clarence Layton, Earl Layton.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 10, 2013 from 4-7pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy and on Monday March 11, 2013 one hour prior to Funeral services which will be held at Providence United Methodist Church 3716 Kemptown Church Rd, Monrovia, MD at 11:00am. Rev. DD Adams will officiate.
In Lieu of flowers contributions should be made to the Steeple Chimes Fund at the Providence United Methodist Church or Hospice of Frederick County.
