Mary Knott, 96, formerly of Frederick, Maryland; died at Jefferson Medical Center, Ranson, WV, 10 March 2020. She was the wife of Bernard Anthony Knott who predeceased her on 19 May 1998.
Born on 17 July 1923 in Frederick, she was the daughter of Oscar and Flora Michael.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV, and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick and Holy Family Catholic Community Church in Middletown.
Mary was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, hard worker, excellent cook and loving mother. She devoted her life to her husband and his work, and her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her three living children, Barbara DeRocher (Al/Tom), Patty Funk (Bob), and Douglas Knott (Diane), and her daughter-in-law Adele Knott (Bernard Wayne).
She is survived by her 13 grandchildren Cathy Amores (Christopher), Randy DeRocher (Danell), John Knott (Melissa), Sandy King (Larry), Matthew Knott (Laura), Bobby Funk (David), Michael Knott (Angela), Mark Knott (Rachel), Jennifer Williams (Brian), Rebekah Bridgette (Barry), Luke Knott (Kristine), Sarah Cross (Nate), and Jacob Knott. She also is survived by 23 great-grandchildren Jared and Joshua DeRocher, Ryanne and Nina King, Maria and Ruby Amores, Alexis, Zachary and Sierra Knott, Riese Knott, Rudy and Lelia Mallamas, Cooper and Paige Knott, Hendrick and Boden Cross, Evan and Christopher Williams, Ashley and Dammion Knott, Anthony, Emma and Jackson Bridgette and her 3 great-great-grandchildren Serenity Storm, Summer Grace, and Xiomara Knott. Mary had eight brothers and sisters of whom two are surviving, Mildred Cline and Ida Boyd. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mary is predeceased by her older son, Bernard Wayne Knott, great granddaughter Morissa Knott, her brothers Alva Michael, Charles Michael, and her sisters Fannie Mehaffie, Ruth Rice, Hattie Bender, and Betty Blank.
The family will receive friends at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkettsville Road, Middletown, MD 21769 on Saturday 14 March 2020 from 10:30-11:30 am. Services will follow at 11:30 am. Deacon George Sisson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
At this time the family would like to thank whole-heartedly the Shenandoah Center, Charles Town for their unconditional care of our mother and would also like to thank the staff of doctors and nurses at Jefferson Medical Center, Ranson, WV for their care and tenderness shown our mother during her brief stay.
