Mrs. Mary Jane Hawk, 72, of Hagerstown and formerly of Frederick, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at her home after a 14-month battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Paul Wendall Hawk, who predeceased her on February 20, 2001.
Born July 31, 1940 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Dorothy E. Spicer.
Mrs. Hawk was owner/operator of her own business. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Additionally, she loved shopping, exercising, cooking, and cleaning.
Mrs. Hawk is survived by three daughters, Deborah Fuller and her husband, Ronald, of Arnold; Lori Smith and husband, Stewart, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Cheryl Webb and husband, Shannon, of Smithsburg; five grandchildren, Meghan Fuller, Dana Smith, Alaina Smith, Rylie Webb, and Cassidy Webb; four sisters, Jean Wagner, Beverly Case, Joyce Cavanaugh, and Joan Ricker; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Scott Peacock, and a brother, Frank Spicer, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 16 from the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
