Mary Virginia Griffith, 75, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on June 20, 1937, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Frisby and Sarah (Lewis) Griffith. Her fiancé of 37 years, Charles Gatrell, preceded her in death.
Mary attended Boonsboro Schools.
She was a former member of the Mt. Briar Church of God in Keedysville.
Mary loved being with her family, especially her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed sewing and was known by all for her homemade bread that she baked from scratch.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Dodson and husband Charles of Keedysville; and one brother, Samuel Griffith and wife Margaret of Keedysville.
In addition to her parents and her fiancé, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
