Mary Elizabeth Gordon, 78, of Frederick died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of  Seaven Gordon, Sr., her husband for 49 years.

Born April 21, 1935 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Luther O. Brown and Ida M. Brown.

Mary was a devoted member of Sugarloaf Mountain Christian Community Church where she served as church clerk. For more than 40 years, she was responsible for making sure the kitchen staff had plenty of food for special church functions. She was a graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School Adult Evening High School.

She retired from Barbara Fritchie Restaurant. She loved to cook, bake, attend church functions, shop on Saturdays with her two sisters, and spend time with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Roslynn Thomas (Timothy) and son Seaven Gordon, Jr. and fiancé, Anita Michaels, all of Frederick; seven devoted grandchildren; and three-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Velma Weedon (Herbert) and Carlene Carr (James) of Frederick; three brothers, Frank Brown of Walkersville, Charles Brown (Debbie) and Kevin Brown of Frederick; two sisters-in-law, Theresa and Aletha Brown; one aunt, Alice Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted friends.

Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther Brown Jr., Floyd E. Brown Sr., and Ward Brown Sr.; sister-in-law, Ruth Brown; and aunt, Naomi Naylor.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will begin at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Joan Hall.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
