Mary Getz

Mrs. Mary Agnes Getz, 80, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at John Hopkins. She was the wife of William Getz for 63 years.
Born July 1, 1936 in Fairfield, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert, Sr. and Dora Wormley.
Agnes was a longtime employee of Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and AMVETS Auxiliary of Thurmont. Agnes loved doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid nature lover and enjoyed botanical gardens and bird watching. Agnes was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children William Getz, of ME, Susan Dewees and husband Mearl of Woodsboro, Anna Maria Sahlin and husband Peder of FL, David Michael Getz and wife Paula of Thurmont, Brian Getz and wife Traci of Emmitsburg and Timothy Getz of PA; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; siblings Robert Wormley, Jr. of Frederick, James Wormley and wife Sandra of Emmitsburg, Joseph Wormley and wife Grace of Emmitsburg and Joan Houck and husband Jim of New Oxford, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sister Virginia Hyde.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 2PM.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
