Mary Frances “Frankie” Roney, 94, of Boonsboro, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community in Boonsboro.
Born January 18, 1931 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Mildred Stup Wachter.
Mary Frances was known for her green thumb, her molasses cookies, and her creativity in not following recipes, which resulted in many delicious meals.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boonsboro.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Roney, of Williamsport; a son, Paul Roney and wife, Faith, of Beavercreek, Oregon; three granddaughters, Sarah Roney of Hagerstown, Nicole Davila and husband, Pete, of Oregon, and Erika Rathjen, and husband, Jake, of Oregon; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Rathjen, Eastyn Rathjen, and Clayton Davila all of Oregon; a sister, Martha L. Fogle of Frederick; and a brother, James Wachter, Sr. and wife, Shirley, of Chambersburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Wachter.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Karl Muhlbach officiating. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street in Frederick.
