Mary Green

Mary Frances (Swope) Green, 89, formerly of Myersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hagerstown.

Born on January 2, 1924, in Mt. Lena, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roy Hubert and Edna (Hovis) Swope.  Her husband, Ralph M. Green, preceded her in death in 2004.

She was a member of Pleasant Walk United Methodist Church where she had been very active in the women's group and sang with the choir.

Mary was the Matriarch of her family, and will be deeply missed by all.  She will be fondly remembered for her love of word search games.

She is survived by three daughters, Pat A. Myers and husband Sherman of Orlando, Florida, Barbara L. Phillips and husband David and Connie J. Dutrow and husband Wendell, all of Myersville; three sisters, Hazel Baker of Hagerstown, Betty Gilbert of Braddock Heights, Maryland, and Bertha Sigler of Myersville; two grandchildren, Chris Dutrow and wife Lauren of Middletown, Maryland, and Jenny Crummitt and husband Wayne of Marion, Pennsylvania; and two great grandchildren, Aidan and Liam Dutrow.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Swope and Ruth Bidle.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home,7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.  Rev. Nancy Green will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Myersville.

Friends are invited to visit the funeral home on Sunday, May 19, 2013 anytime between 12 noon and 5 p.m.  The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
