Mary Carnes

Mrs. Mary E. Carnes, 89, formerly of Frederick, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Golden Living Center. She was the wife of the late Ira W. Carnes.
Born January 9, 1922 in Lucketts, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ervin P. and Maude Stocks Athey.
She is survived by her children Cynthia Carnes Estrada of Hagerstown and Don Carnes and wife Kathy of South Carolina, grandchildren Kristy Long, Matthew Estrada and Nicholas Estrada, great grandchildren Tyler Dunbar, Anthony DeMarco and Sarah Long, and a sister Nancy Quesenberry, her special niece Regina Stice and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Esther Brown, Margaret Carnes , Lena Fry, Johnny Athey, Joseph Athey and Richard “Phil” Athey.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Thursday, July 7, from 7 – 9 pm, where services will be held Friday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
