Mary Biser

Mary Alice Mercer Biser, age 86 passed away on Nov 18, 2010 at Glade Valley Nursing Home, in Walkersville, MD.

She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Biser, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 25, 2005. They had been married for 63 years

Mary was a lifetime resident of Frederick County having been born to John Ezra and Mary Maude (Delauter) Mercer, on January 8, 1924.

Mary was a 1941 graduate of Frederick High school. She spent her life taking care of her home and family. In her early years she worked alongside her husband, on their farm, in Adamstown. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Adamstown, and a charter member of the Carroll Member Fire Company Auxilary. She was the sister to Leida Garst, Grayson Mercer (both deceased) and to Hilda Ausherman, Anne Jackson, Mildred Harrington, all of Frederick County, MD.

Mary is survived by her 4 children; 3 sons: Joseph Jr., and wife Ruth of Keymar, MD; Robert and wife Paula of Walkersville, MD; Daniel and wife Sarah of Lutz, FL; and 1 daughter Brenda Wilhelm, Adamstown, MD and Jack Wilhelm of Frederick, MD. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren (according to age) Kyle Rhoderick, of CO. Mandy Biser, of PA, Daniel Biser of MA, Joseph T. Biser, of MD, Abby Biser, of MA., Dale Biser of ME, LT. Jennifer Biser, who is stationed in Germany.

Mary is survived by 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a number of her husband’s family along with many nieces and nephews.

Mary is remembered by her lifetime friend: Louise Cline.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, December 4, at 11 o’clock at the Adamstown Community Church, in Adamstown MD (formally the United Church of Christ). The family will receive friends at the church at 10 o’clock, (one hour prior to the service).
