Mary Grace Baker, Born - August 29, 1932 ; Died January 14, 2017
Mary Grace Thomas Baker of Nottingham, Maryland and formerly of Walkersville, Maryland went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2017 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, Maryland.  She was born on August 29, 1932 in Buckeystown, Maryland to Ralph Monroe and Lois Compher Thomas.
She was a 1950 graduate of Frederick High School and married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) Baker on December 21, 1952.
Mary entered nursing training in 1950 at Frederick Memorial Hospital and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1955.  She worked at Frederick Memorial Hospital for 35 years and was named “Nurse of the Year” in 1985.  She subsequently worked for her sister’s compassionate care business before retiring in 1991.
She was married for 53 years to Jim and was preceded in death by her husband in 2006.  She is survived by two daughters and two sons:  Lynn and Mark Wivell of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; Sharon and Gary Will of Fork, Maryland; Vance and Donna Baker of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and James and Laurie Baker of Bel Air, Maryland.  Another son, James R. Baker Jr. died at birth.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren:  Dawn, M.J., Steven, Clinton, Bryant, Lindsey, Cameran, Jenna and Kiley, as well as five great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by three sisters:  Virginia Koontz, Jean Main, and Diane Kefauver.  She is survived by two brothers:  Ralph Thomas and Michael Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike on Wednesday, January 18th from 10 AM to 12 PM followed by a service at 12:00pm in the Funeral home Chapel.  Final resting place will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
