Mary Atkins-Jancuk

A woman of character and strength says farewell to cancer, Crohn's and pain.

On Tuesday evening, June 14th, after long illnesses, Mary Atkins-Jancuk, passed on to be with other members of her family who preceded her and us to be with the Lord. After battling Crohn's disease for nearly 40 years and cancer for the past 6 years, the body of this "brave hero" could no longer stand up to the pain and suffering and cried out "enough"! But, her spirit lives on in each of us who have known and loved her for so long. She was a loving and giving spouse to Joseph Eugene, mother to Kristen and Meghan, grandmother (Mere mere) to JJ and Ollie and sister to David, Thomas-Earl and Dennis, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. So many of us remember her sour beef, her love of crossword puzzles, her incessant reading and her beautiful smile. And who could forget her love of cats. So, now she is cooking for the Lord's dinner and telling Jesus to stay out of her kitchen. Mary will always live on in our thoughts because she gave so much to each of us to take and share with the world. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 10 am. on Friday, June 17.
