Marvin Glenn Alexander

Marvin Glenn Alexander passed away peacefully on October 28th at the Carroll Hospice facility Dove House in Westminster Md.

He was born the son of George W. and Ola V. Alexander, November 27, 1929 on Main Mountain in Kline W.Va. He was the husband of Nancy Rudy Alexander, his devoted wife of 58 years.

Marvin graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin W.Va. in 1948. He began employment with the Damascus Motor Company in January 1955 and worked there until his retirement on December 31, 1991. He was recognized nationally for over 25 years as a member, and one time President of Chevrolet's Only the Best Club for service managers.

After retirement, Marvin and Nancy moved to Zephyrhills Fla. and returned to Md. in October 2007 to be closer to family and friends. Marvin took great pride in his W.Va. and Mt. Airy roots.

Marvin joined the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company in 1952, serving as an active member until 1965. He was made an honorary member in 1965 until present and served several years as financial secretary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Douglas C. and wife Bonnie, Michael G. and wife Rosemary, Robert M. and wife Rita, and David S. and wife Betty; grandchildren, Steven Alexander, Angie Muller, Chris Logue, Joel Logue, Michael Muggs Alexander, Kory Alexander, Kerri Marini, Chris Alexander, US Army 2nd Lt. Adam Alexander, currently serving in Iraq, and 8 great-grandchildren. Marvin is also survived by siblings, Grace Dunkle, Eva Mae Hatton, Neva Morris, Warnie and Raymond.

Marvin is predeceased by siblings, Foster, Hazel Mitchell, Roy, Ernest, Guy, and Dolan; devoted friends, Robert Gosnell, Bill Landis, and Travis Norwood.



Visitation: Visitation will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8
East Ridgeville Blvd, Mount Airy,from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2.

Services: The funeral will be on Monday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery on Main Street in Mt. Airy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company, 702 North Main Street, Mt. Airy, Md. 21771, or the Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave, Westminster, Md. 21157.
