Marvin Simmons, Jr.

Mr. Marvin Wheaton Simmons, Jr., 82 of Frederick, Maryland (formerly of Bethesda), passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Barbara Jean Simmons, his wife of 58 years. They were married in 1950.
Marvin was born May 14, 1930 in Washington D.C. the son of the late Marvin Wheaton, Sr. and Virginia Hudson Simmons, and resided in Bethesda, MD until moving to Gaithersburg in 1960.
He attended Bethesda High School. He was active in the Gaithersburg community and owned Marvin Simmons Real Estate, as well as working in his father’s real estate business. Mr. & Mrs. Simmons moved to Frederick in 1990.
He is survived by all four of his children oldest daughter, Debra Jean Dove and husband Stanley, oldest son, Lawrence Marvin Simmons and wife Lucy, youngest son, Donald Wheaton Simmons, youngest daughter, Laura Jean Simmons, nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Key Chapel, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street, Frederick, MD. Interment will follow.
