Mr. Martin Philip Coblentz, 77, of Frederick died peacefully on Thursday December 10, 2009 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick. He was the husband of Doris Jean Hoffman Coblentz , his wife of 51 years.
Born on May 10, 1932 in Middletown he was the son of the late Walter Boyer and Mary Beachley Coblentz.
He was raised on the Catoctin View Dairy Farm in Jefferson, MD. Martin loved to show Holstein dairy cattle in his younger years. He was a member of the Middletown 4-H club. Martin was a graduate of Middletown High School. He enjoyed playing basketball and softball. He was a charter member and past president of the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club. Martin was employed with the Maryland State Highway Administration for 37 years from 1958 to 1994. He was a member of the Old Frances Scott Key Post # 11 American Legion Drum & Bugle Corp. in the 1950s. After retiring from the State, Martin drove a Frederick County school bus and worked for the Frederick County Transit for two years from 1999 to 2001. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Phil Coblentz and wife Karen of Liberty Road, Frederick, Troy Coblentz of Frederick and Faye Novak and husband Dr. Vincent Novak of Brentwood, Tenn. Five grandchildren Scott and Valerie Coblentz and Emma, Adam and Jackson Novak. Two brothers Austin and Walter Lee Coblentz of Jefferson. Also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and many great nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his sister Marion Boyer.

Services: Visitation will be held on Monday December 14, 2009 from 11:00am until time of funeral services at 12:00noon, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. His nephew Pastor David Coblentz will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Pallbearers will be Martins nephews.
